Have you ever thought about collecting diecast trucks? More and more people are fascinated by this fun and interesting hobby that allows you to escape the everyday pressures. You should be happy to find out that it doesn’t matter if you’re a passionate collector or just a casual collector as there is something for everyone! However, there are many variables that must be taken into consideration when you are starting such a hobby. Let’s have a look at some basic information that every collector should know!
Diecast trucks are an excellent choice to start a collection. Firstly, you should choose a certain size that you want as there are many different available scales that can confuse you. Critical in your decision is the amount of space you can devote to your collection. For example, a very large gathering can be assembled by using 1:64 scale trucks. A diorama can also be easily build that will accommodate all of your diecast trucks without sacrificing too much space. On the other hand, if you have plenty of room, the 1:24 scale is perfect for you as this involves larger trucks. A diorama is more difficult to build as opposed to the smaller trucks though.
Currently, the serious collectors lean towards the large scale model trucks as these are the most popular ones. This is due to the huge amount of detail that this type of models provides and this is why they are snapped left and right by truck collectors. Functional suspension systems, working steering columns and detailed exhaust systems are some of the highlights of such large scale models. Obviously, smaller scale models lose more detail. Just go one step down and the functional steering can be lost! You may end up with only the working wheels on the smallest models.
The push to create diecast models was started by the Dinky Toys company in the 1930s. Production began in 1934 and the majority of them were only in the 1:43 scale. In the mid 1950s, Matchbox was born and created mostly 1:64 scale models with no working parts at all, due to the inevitable manufacturing shortcomings. The improvements of diecast models arrived due to the advancements in the manufacturing process and soon, die cast model trucks were produced at a decent pace. Working parts were then included by manufacturers.
If you’re serious and passionate about collecting diecast trucks, you can join a model truck club. Keep in mind that you have plenty of options at your disposal as there are many available to join. Whether you live in the UK, USA or some other part of the world, joining is an easy process because there are many clubs out there. Different benefits are offered by such model truck clubs. In addition, they represent very good sources of information and you can easily find answers to your questions about a particular model truck. Knowing the exact scale model you wish to collect is critical before you decide to join a club! Happy collecting!
