If you are decorating an office then this means that you need specific office furniture, and it means it's your job to make sure that the office not only looks the part, but also has all the facilities necessary to be productive and to get lots of work done.
If you are decorating an office for a business then this is going to be slightly different to decorating a private office for yourself, thought basically you will need essentially the same things – just on a bigger scale. While you would need one desk most likely then for a home office, you would need several desks if you have an office for more people – most likely one for each person unless some of those staff could share a desk.
Here then we will look at what you need to equip an office for one person with office furniture. If you are making a home office then the following is what you will need to get started, whereas if you are making an office for more of you then some of the items will need to be multiplied for each person (while others won't).
Desk: The desk is the main part of your office furniture and will be the centerpiece of a home office. It's also where the most work will get done and that makes it perhaps the single most important part of your office furniture. Choosing a desk carefully is crucial to having a successful office overall so look for something with space for a computer, papers and lots of drawers.
Chair: The desk chair is then possibly the second most important piece of office furniture as without this you would have nowhere to sit when using the desk and you would still be unable to work. There are many important considerations to bear in mind when picking your desk chair. You need to make sure for instance that it is a good height and size for the desk and where the computer will be to avoid getting a bad back, and you need to make sure that it is comfortable in general.
Filing Cabinet: Somewhere to file your papers is a good idea for any office and this is a good way to keep your things organized and to be able to find them quickly when necessary.
Storage Cupboard: This is another essential piece of office furniture for keeping supplies such as pens and rulers as well as other documents, books and electronic equipment. The size of this piece of office furniture will depend on the number of people working in the office.
Cabinet: You need all kinds of cabinets when working in an office whether it's to stand a printer/scanner or to just keep a lamp.
Visitor Chairs: These are more optional and will depend on the kind of work you do, but you also need to decide on where visitors to the office will sit, whether they've been summoned and are having a conversation or whether they're waiting to see you. A nice couch with a coffee table and some reading material is always a great idea.
