A lot of customers come to Big T Tent rental Kansas City, MO having a little too specific an idea in mind of what they need. They decide that they want this specific size and type of tent, and that’s all there is to it. Big T Tents are a family owned business with over two decades experience in the industry, and we pride ourselves on being more than a tent supplier. We’re also tent advisors, if you will. If you don’t know exactly what you want, we can help you figure it out. If you only tell our staff how many people you’re hosting and what type of event it is, they should be able to come back with a list of exactly what you need, and you won’t even have to hire a party planner. Here are some basic facts to keep in mind about planning your next event.

10 Square Feet per Person

In general, ten square feet of space for every person attending an event is a good way to ensure that everybody is comfortable, that there’s not a lot of crowding, elbowing and people bumping into one another. A party of ten, for instance, would easily fit into a 100 square foot tent, while a party of 100 would demand a 1000 foot tent. Just multiply your number of guests by ten and you have the exact size of tent you’re going to need.

Of course, you won’t always be able to find that exact size, so round up to the next available tent size before renting your tent.

The Weather Plays a Role

Cross reference the weather with the type of event, and you’ll be able to tell if you need sides for the tent, if you need heavier folding chairs and what kind of tent you’re going to need in the first place. If it’s very hot out, you’ll want to go with a white tent that can reflect the heat. If it’s windy and you’re hosting a barbecue or dinner party, you’ll need sides to keep the paper plates from flying all over the place. Just make sure that you have an idea of what kind of weather to expect beforehand and we’ll be able to help you choose the right tent and accessories to make sure that your event goes off without a hitch.

Choosing Your Tent Style

There are really two main types of tent that are most frequently used. You have a frame tent and a pole tent. The frame tent lacks a center pole, while a pole tent is anchored down with stakes every ten feet or so around the perimeter, along with center poles to keep the tent upright. A frame tent may be anchored with stakes, but often uses weights to hold the tent down. We’ll help you settle on one or the other based on a number of factors like weather, the event type and number of guests.

The staff at Big T Tents are nothing if not knowledgeable about the subject of tents, stakes, chairs, tables and everything in between, so never hesitate to ask us anything.
