Moving is never easy and can be frustrating and exhausting especially when moving long distance.

To relive stress and tension use a long distance moving service. Before choosing a long distance moving company be sure to research all the companies that are available in your area. There are several things to consider before choosing one and you should ask as many questions as possible.

Make a list of all the questions you want to ask and get at least three bids before deciding on a long distance move. Some of the questions you should ask are what is included in the price, how long have they been in business, are they insured, do they pack all items include glass and china and how many men will be on the job.

Let’s take a look at each one of these questions and why you should ask them.

What is included in the price?

The reason for this question is that many long distance moving companies charge for everything they do. If they pack a certain amount of boxes it’s one price, however, if they pack more than that it’s a higher price. Many companies also charge separately for blanks and packing materials such as packing peanuts and tape.

How long has the company been in business?

There are many reputable companies that have been in business for a long time. However, there are even more that are less than reputable and have been in business for a short period of time. Also be sure to check out the company with your local Better Business Bureau or the BBB. The BBB can give you a report of the company that includes all customer complaints as well as compliments and will also tell you how long they have been in business.

Is the company insured?

This is a very important question to ask.  A long distance moving company has to have Liability insurance. This is in the event something happens to you or your furniture or personal property that the company has you covered. It also protects the movers in the event they are injured while packing or moving your furniture or personal property.

What does the company pack and what do I pack?

Again, another important question to ask. Most long distance moving companies pack everything including china, glass and all fragile property. However, there are some companies that only pack items that are not fragile leaving that packing to you. When getting a bid be sure exactly what the company will pack is included in the bid.

How many men will be on the job?

The more men that are packing and moving the less time it will take costing you less money. However, if only two or three men are on the job it means they will take a long time to pack costing you more money and possibly paying overtime. You will also want to be sure they do not take an excessive amount of breaks. Again you are paying for their breaks and the more they take the longer it will take to get you packed.
