If you are currently getting truck training or driver training ready to take a driving test then this can be an incredibly nerve wracking and scary experience. If you are getting driver training or truck training then this is something that goes on for a long time and that often means spending a fair amount of money on the training itself, on theory tests and on vehicles. Then there's the time commitment and to get really good driving lessons or truck lessons you need to stick at it for a long time and put in lots of hours. Then there's the sheer scariness of driving or driving a truck in itself – either means controlling a metal hulk of a vehicle that hurtles down motorways at potentially hundreds of kilometers an hour – wrong moves could be a matter of life or death for you or others.

For all these reasons we tend to go into our exams after driving lessons or truck lessons feeling rather nervous and scared. That said though, you can still go in scared and pass your lessons, if you just know what the examiner is looking for. Here then we will look at some tips for passing your driving lessons.

Remember What You Were Told: Think back to your driving lessons or your truck driving lessons. Your instructor knows what they are talking about and all those little niggling bits like checking blind spots are crucial to passing.

Be Obvious: It's not good enough that you know how to drive after driving lessons, you need to be able to demonstrate that you know how to drive. So don't just glance at your rear view mirror, but rather make a show and dance of obviously checking so that your instructor is able to see that you are – you can even tell them what you are doing.

Be Calm: This is one of the most important tips of all, and if you can exude a calm confidence then you will be significantly more likely to pass your driving test than if you come across as stressed and panicked. Your instructor first and foremost needs to feel safe and secure in the car with you when you drive, and if you are panicking and making stupid mistakes then this will do little to put them at ease. Be calm and confident and little errors will seem like less of a big deal. Struggling to calm down? Well then tell yourself that this is just a practice run and that the outcome doesn't matter. Take that view and you're more likely to calm down and pass.

Keep Going: If you have made lots of mistakes and think you've thrown your license away then now's not the time to stop and cry about it. Instead demonstrate your ability to recover and pick up and keep going. It's good practice to continue in this vein if nothing else, but more importantly you might be surprised to find that you're still on track to pass and if you keep going then you might still just scrape through.
