If you think your teeth have 'had it' and they look and feel beyond repair then this can be a highly upsetting feeling. Our teeth are an important part of our look, and they are responsible for making us look healthy, confident and happy. If we have bad teeth then that affects our smile and it generally affects our general health.

However while it may be too late for regular dental procedures to fix your teeth, there are some cosmetic dentistry options that can nevertheless have a profound impact on your teeth and repair them even when you think they're past the point of saving. If your teeth are very unstraight, or if they are very yellow, then that doesn't mean they're not salvageable, so here we will look at how to repair your teeth even if they're looking beaten with cosmetic dentistry.

Veneers: Using veneers means having facades attached to the outsides of your teeth so that the fronts that are facing outward look whiter and straighter. This means you can essentially cover up any damage or stain, just like you might put a rug on a stain in the carpet. At the same time though this facade also acts as a sheath and thereby can protect the tooth from further damage.

Dental Implants: If you are missing teeth then dental implants are one of the most invasive yet effective ways to replace them. This involves having a new false tooth screwed into your gum and jaw so that it is permanently held in place. Of course that tooth can be as white and straight as you want it, or made to match the rest of your teeth. Because it's permanent and doesn't come out at night this cosmetic dentistry has a great psychological effect (it's 'your tooth'), but at the same time it's quite an ordeal.

Crowns: Crowns are like veneers except they also cover the top, back and sides of your teeth. Consider a crown more like a hat or an egg cozy that fits over the top of your tooth whereas a veneer is more like a mask.

Braces: Braces don't involve inserting anything new into your mouth, or pulling anything out. Rather braces are simply designed to help straighten your existing teeth by holding them in place and by re-aligning them. Often this works using a set of tracks that fit onto the front of the teeth, but it can likewise be achieved by using less visible braces such as 'invisalign' which is transparent and fits over the front of the teeth.

Bridges: A bridge is another way to fill a gap that's less invasive than implants. Here a new false tooth is put in by being attached to the tooth on either side of it. Of course this is less secure and it relies on your having two healthy teeth either side, but at the same time it's much less painful than implants.

Removable Dentures: Dentures are a basic form of cosmetic dentistry that involves having a set of false teeth that can be put in or removed. They can be designed to replace one or all of your teeth, but they have the downside of having to be removed over night.
