It has been observed in many adults that their final set of molars, a.k.a wisdom teeth, is found to cause complications during their growth. Some people experience severe pain in their jaws, while some feel a pinch in their gums, while a very few people have a bad case of cheek piercing wisdom tooth. So, out of every hundred adults, at least forty of them face with an improper wisdom teeth growth, but of these at least eighty percent of them will have to undergo wisdom teeth extraction to get rid of the lingering pain or to avoid any complications in future.
Wisdom teeth extraction is probably one of the most challenging jobs for a dentist. It is generally the duty of the patient to pay regular visits to the dentist; however, busy jobs have enabled many adults to neglect their oral dental care. This negligence affects the busy working professionals adversely, because the dentist would not be able to take the regular x-ray, to study the growth of the wisdom teeth and warn the individual beforehand. As a result, the patient might have to face a dire wisdom tooth extraction that what would not have been necessary. Therefore, it is always important to pay a regular visit to the dentist for a good dental care and for a less painful procedure.
A fully grown wisdom tooth is easy to remove, rather than a partially grown one. Nevertheless, sometimes it becomes absolutely important to get rid of it before it can cause any serious damage. In some people, when the wisdom tooth grows horizontally, it starts to push the adjacent teeth, causing a lot of pain and making it even more painful every passing day. Amongst a few handful, the pain could be so severe that the person would suffer from fever, headache and would lose the interest to eat anything. In such cases, the doctor would act accordingly to avoid the hassle and extract the wisdom tooth with minimal or zero complications.
There are a few rare cases, where the wisdom teeth bends and embeds to the jaw bone, such that the dentist would certainly have to scrub off a little of the bone as well. Even though losing a portion of jaw bone may not be a huge problem, dentists generally try to avoid causing any damage to the bone. Nonetheless, if that’s the only possible way, then the extraction would be carried out and the patient will have to lose a very small portion of the bone.
Since wisdom teeth extraction is such a serious issue, it is generally advisable to select a good dentist and avoid any serious snags. Some people just select their dentists by the amount of fee that the dentist collects. This is not the right way at all! The wisdom teeth extraction procedure does not stop with the extraction alone. There are many aftermath affects like sore gums, bleeding, pain surges etc, which can be taken care of only by a skilful and experienced dentist. So, choose your dentist wisely!
