When taking out life insurance policies with companies like CPP.Ca, it is normal to think about this in terms of money being paid out for your surviving family members. This is the main purpose of life insurance in the eyes of most people – to provide for the remaining members of your family when you are sadly no longer around to do so.
However while this may be one of the main and most important uses of life insurance it is far from being the only use of life insurance and there are many other important reasons to turn to companies like CPP.Ca for policies – and even when you no longer have any family members that are financially dependent on you. One such reason is for funeral insurance which will help pay for the costs of your funeral. If you don't have funeral insurance and you should pass away then even if you don't have any family who are financially dependent on you, you are still going to burden them with the costs of your funeral and this is a huge expense that no one would want to burden anyone with. If you use leave your funeral costs to your family, then this will mean that you are making them pay amounts close to that of a wedding, and they may well not be able to afford this on their own.
Likewise, even if they can afford the funeral costs without funeral insurance, it might well mean that you end up having a cheaper funeral than you might have imagined and this will mean that you don't get quite the send off you were probably hoping for.
There are many costs associated with funerals that add up to make this such an expensive process. Just a few include:
Food: At a funeral you will hopefully have a large number of visitors and they will normally expect to be fed at the funeral. This means for most funerals that you are paying out for a huge buffet that guests can help themselves to and this is going to cost you a lot of money. At the same time you will also probably be paying for drink and this of course can get even more expensive.
The Venue: After the funeral itself you will need to hire a venue for the wake and this again can be very expensive for such a large party.
Transport: You will need transport for yourself and for the coffin and usually this means a limousine, but on top of that you will also probably need to pay for transport for other friends and family members to ride behind the coffin.
Tombstone: The tombstone is often made from expensive natural stones like granite or limestone and this can be very expensive too.
Flowers: Though the family and friends will likely bring their own flowers, you will also want to contribute some of your own around the coffin and the grave and this can get very expensive too.
Invitations: You will need to send invitations to everyone in attendance and they will normally be nicely designed on expensive paper.
